London-born, Dorset-based. Deep house, spiritual sounds, jazz and the leftfield edges of club music.

Forty years in. Still here for the music.
South Beach Recycling is Gary Ellis: DJ, producer, record collector and promoter. Born in London and based in Dorset, Gary has spent more than four decades around records, club nights, radio and underground parties.
His music draws on deep and spiritual house, jazz-rooted electronics, raw US grooves, soul, dub and percussion. Detroit and Chicago sit alongside the more leftfield records that have always found their way into his sets.
Since house music hit UK shores in the late 80s, Gary has run a record shop, been involved with three radio stations and put on parties on the South Coast. His productions and remixes have appeared through Atjazz Record Company, Situationism, Beyond Tomorrow, Nervous Records and Midnight Riot. His ongoing relationship with Atjazz has brought a run of releases including RESET.
Behind the decks, he likes room to build a set: good sound, an open-minded crowd and a line-up that makes musical sense.

Flyers from the archive
The flyer photos are a bit rough. I’ve always cared more about the records and the room than putting a grey bloke in his fifties front and centre. These are the nights as they were.
Spiritland, Supermax and Funksoul flyers show the day and month without a year, so the year is left unspecified. A matching Mixcloud recording has not yet been verified.
